HootSuite published an article at the end of 2016 focused on the best times to post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Below we summarize those results.

When to Post on Facebook

The best times to post on Facebook are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 12pm and 3pm as well as Saturday and Sunday between 12pm and 1pm.

HootSuite has found that Tuesdays see the lowest rates of engagement on Facebook. If you are not posting every single day, Tuesday may be a good day to skip. Additionally, weekends have lower engagement rates; however, click-throughs do increase on weekends between 12pm and 1pm.

When to Post on Twitter

The best time to post on Twitter is Monday through Friday at 3pm.

While we recommend posting on Twitter more than once a day, weekdays at 3pm is a good starting point. Tweets have a very short lifespan in most feeds. That is why users should tweet more often throughout the day. Posting on weekdays is especially vital for B2B companies.

When to Post on Instagram

The best time to post on Instagram is Monday through Friday between 12pm and 1pm.

According to HootSuite, it is very clear based on the data that their community scrolls through Instagram during the lunch hour. If you want to get the most out of your Instagram account, begin posting around noon on weekdays. For non-B2B companies, the weekend lunch hour is also an optimal time to post.
