Oct 9, 2014 | Google Analytics / Tracking

With Google Analytics you can track the number of people who have visited your website and how they found your website, but how will you know what they did when they got there? The answer: In-Page Analytics.

Track Clicks With In-Page Google Analytics

With Google Analytics you can track the number of people who have visited your website and how they found your website, but how will you know what they did when they got there? With In-Page Analytics you can actually see what links or images they clicked on within each page.

Why is In-Page Analytics Helpful?

In-Page Analytics allows you to determine how a user utilizes your website, including what content they viewed and clicked. Here are some of the ways this data is helpful:

  • What Has Been Clicked: This report will show you which link on a page is most popular. Are users clicking on the cross links or do they stick to the navigation?
  • Main Navigation: Which sections are most popular? Also, which section is clicked the least? With this information you can determine whether or not a user understood a specific section. Those with the least clicks may need to be renamed.
  • Images vs. Text: when you have a link to a detail page, does a user click on the image, header or learn more link? This can allow you to adapt other areas of your website.

How Do I Get In-Page Analytics?

In-Page Analytics is a report available in the “Behavior” section on the left navigation bar. You can turn on more enhanced tracking within the “Admin” section, but to get started with the basics just click the “In-Page Analytics” option.
