Concrete5 Content Management

Concrete5 is one of many available Content Management Systems (CMS) through which a website can be developed. Like other CMS platforms, it offers the ability to login and manage the content of your website without having to go through your web developer. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages to a Concrete5 CMS and it is important to be aware of them before investing.

Pros of Concrete5 CMS

  • Open-Source
Since Concrete5 is open-source, you will have the ability to freely modify and distribute code without worrying about licensing fees.

  • Native Content Blocks
Concrete5 offers the unique ability to drag and drop content blocks within a template, offering amazing organizational abilities and easy editing.

  • Easy to Use
It is easy to use and install for people with little experience in web development or code.

  • Search Engine Optimization
Concrete5 offers many SEO tools for adding Meta Descriptions, and so forth, on the backend, helping to ensure that your site stays in Google’s good graces.

  • Multiple Site Permissions
With Concrete5 you have the ability to assign various permissions based on different levels of administration, controlling what various people can and cannot edit on the site.

Cons of Concrete5 CMS

  • Smaller Community
Concrete5 has a much smaller community meaning that finding answers to your questions and help with your issues is more difficult than with other content management systems.

  • More Commercial Add-ons
On the plus side, Concrete5 comes with many cool features, out-of-the-box, however, additional add-ons are available for purchase.

Concrete5 is certainly one of the top content management systems out there because it offers ease of use as well as high functionality. However, we don’t like to look at one CMS platform as one-size-fits-all. Concrete5 may not be the best choice for everyone. Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla, or a custom approach might work better for others in the long term. If you need help choosing a CMS, contact Informatics Inc.
